History of Mercedes Benz: The 230SL Pagoda

The Mercedes-Benz 230SL and 250SL and 280SL his successor (1963-1971)

As the first in the history of Mercedes-Benz cars in the press was shown two weeks ago presented the formal 14th March 1963 at the Geneva Motor Show. Was thus assured that their reports were at or before the official start date of the car. This Benz was expected, and no one knew whether it would follow the mighty 300SL 190SL or popular. He did not follow one of them. As Professor Fritz Nallinger, chief engineer and member of the Executive Council, the new Mercedes-Benz 230SL, known internally 113 W introduced, it creates a kind of shock. When Erich Waxenberg, talented engineer as Uhlenhaut once remarked, the car appeared as if a tree fell on him. The roof was, well …unusual. But the roof was not just a sensation, it was also the car’s performance. Everyone had expected a successor to the legendary 300 SL.

Daimler-Benz, of course, was firmly in his approach to the role of the new SL. It was not a 300SL or 190SL. There was a high-performance grand touring sports car with superior handling characteristics that two people plus luggage were in style, comfort and above all safety wear. It was a Mercedes Benz on their own land. To prove the sporting side, Uhlenhaut, always for a quick blast around a race track, the 230SL pushed on a track of 1.5 km round near Montreux, in the presence of the press. It was even more impressive than the British Grand Prix driver Mike Parkes was not able to go much faster. His car has not been the same SL, the car was a Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta! History of Mercedes Benz: The 300SEL 6.3

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 (1967-1972)

The 300SEL 6.3 was successful from the first day in the summer of 1966 was revealed. And it was not a long-term planning, strategic, which was behind its launch end of 1967. It was really frustrating for some engineers at Daimler-Benz that journalists in the mid-1960s saw their employer as a car manufacturer for the farmers, managers and retirees. Since there are no original budget for the new Benz, it was developed without the knowledge of senior employees. It was a mixture of 600, which he received the equipment and the 300SEL, the donor of the body and chassis. Both cars were as big cars, but the 600 was for most European customers (and governments) 300SEL too big and not powerful enough for the price. Types Of Fuel Injectors

Open the injector:

The man opened a common method of injection used in the early days. In a fuel injection system, fuel enters the combustion chamber via a pump. The pump increases the pressure on the very fuel-particles transform. These fine particles evaporate faster and produce more energy inside the combustion chamber. During the injection, the actual combustion begins when fuel pressure is greater than the pressure in the combustion chamber. If the pressure is lower than the pressure inside the engine, a check valve closes the passage when the fuel arrives. You can close the passage, the injection process. Pressure line, which was in the early days, was shorter due to the consideration of the space inside the engine. This system is totally dependent on the diameter and length of the penstock, which often leads to problems such as pre-ignition and after firing. So today offer closed cars injector type to overcome the disadvantages of the open type.
